I was browsing through the Eyes of Texas Gallery in San Marcos, Texas, when I spotted this lovely welded steel lady bug candlestick holder by Jim Lapaso who creates a lot of interesting and beautiful steel objects. I thought this was a very clever use of "staining". The heat is applied to the inside of the piece and shows up a ring shaped stain on the outside. Next time you see this, look for a weld spot on the other side of the plate. If you like the sculpture, call the gallery at 1-512-353-7263!
